- Authors
Ball, Vicky
- Abstract
An essay is presented in which the author discusses British female ensemble drama television programs since the 1960s. It examines how the development of the genre relates to British television's historical connection to gender and class during specific social and cultural eras. Particular attention is given to how such programs reflected the development of a female identity following the liberalizing movements and increased public activity of women beginning in the 1960s.
