Therefore, although MPST was known to associate with larger tumour size, there is no information of treatment modality for HCC patients in Li et al.'s study, making the prognostic ability of MPST in HCC less well defined. Keywords: 3-Mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase; HCC; prognosis EN 3-Mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase HCC prognosis 1475 1475 1 06/13/22 20220601 NES 220601 We read with interest the paper '3-Mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase represses tumour progression and predicts prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma' published in an upcoming issue of I Liver International i .1 It is an elegant study looking at the role of 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MPST) in liver tumorigenesis and clinical prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but a few potential shortcomings may deserve the readers' attention. It is well known that treatment modality plays a very crucial role in predicting the long-term survival of HCC patients.
