- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss the proteins studied in protein research, which is restricted to proteins known before the human genome was mapped. The authors mention that they have performed a bibliometric analysis to assess protein research, which reveals little change in activity and shifts only when tools to study certain proteins become available. They also emphasize that readily available, high-quality tools can dramatically facilitate biomedical research.
