- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Madre and I: A Memoir of Our Immigrant Lives" by Guillermo Reyes is presented. It explores the forms of othering that constitute the experience of the author and other Chilean LGBTQ migrants to the U.S. It examines the elements of the memoir terms of commodification and theatricality. It examines the textual persona of the author within the plot of the story. It also analyzes the derisive representation of the bodies and unconventional sexualities of migrants.
