- Authors
Padgett, Lynne S.; Ferrer, Rebecca A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the implications of empathy gap for palliative care decision making and how it could shed light on physician perceptions of initiating palliative care as depriving patients of hope. Topics discussed include the issue of how science of emotions and decision making can improve an understanding of palliative care referral and acceptance and the lack of a clear understanding of decision processes in palliative care in the treatment for high lethality or advanced cancer.
