- Abstract
The article explores the role of parents in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It explains the high risk of acquiring HIV in women in sub-Saharan Africa during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of a couples-based approach to HIV prevention is suggested.
