- Abstract
In 2004, Lennon and colleagues1 identified neuromyelitis optica immunoglobulin G (NMO-IgG) in NMO patient sera, which recognized aquaporin-4 (AQP-4) on the foot processes of astroglia in the glia-limitans of central nervous system (CNS) lesions. In acute and chronic multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions, oligodendroglial Cx47 is extensively and persistently lost.3 To elucidate the roles of oligodendroglial Cx47 in inflammatory demyelination, we used oligodendroglia-specific conditional I Cx47 i ablated mice.
