- Abstract
The fifth Global Trajectory Optimization Competition posed a challenging optimization problem. A spacecraft is required to visit as many asteroids as possible within a given time frame and fuel budget. Each asteroid is desired to be visited twice, with more weight for the second visit. This paper presents a method implemented to solve this problem. A novel hidden genes genetic algorithm is implemented to find impulsive solutions for the problem, in which it is assumed that only impulsive thrusters are used. Continuous-thrust trajectories are then computed for the obtained impulsive trajectories.
