This section presents a reprint of the article ""Aspirin"--A Common Name," which appeared in the January 11, 1919 issue of the journal. Topics discussed include the petition filed in the U.S. Patent Office by the United Drug Company against pharmaceutical firm Bayer Company, the statement issued by the Patent Office with regard to the use of the name Aspirin for the brand of monoaceticacidester of salicylic acid, and the possible cancellation of the Aspirin trademark.
