- Authors
Zappert, Laurel N.; Rasgon, Natalie L.
- Abstract
Reproductive disorders, including menstrual irregularities and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), appear to have a higher prevalence among women with bipolar disorder. Although no link has yet been conclusively proved, in this article Dr. Rasgon and Ms. Zappert present what is known about bipolar illness and its relationship to reproductive disorders, especially PCOS. The authors also examine the implications of this research for the treatment of bipolar disorder in reproductive-age women.
