- Title
"The Way It Is": In Conversation with Gerald Dawe.
- Authors
Allen, Nicholas; Gardiner, David
- Abstract
The article presents an interview with Gerald Dawe, author of the book "The Proper Word." He says that to him, the proper word is the relationship between the freedom of the imagination to rove, and at the same time to engage with politics once in a while. Dawe says that the negotiation of the imagination with the present is different between prose and poetry. Dawe stresses that "The Proper Word" is a poet's criticism and not a critic's criticism.
