- Abstract
The article describes the first stereoselective synthesis of meso-secoisolariciresinol and compares its biological activity with (+) and (-)-secoisolariciresinol. According to the authors, both enantiomers of secoisolariciresinol accelerated immunoglobulin M (IgM) production, although meso-secoisolariciresinol did not affect IgM production. They add that only meso-secoisolariciresinol demonstrated cytotoxic activity.
