- Abstract
To study the interactive behaviors between lane changing vehicle and the vehicle behind it at the target lane, lane changing scenes of urban expressway were designed and an experiment platform for two-vehicle driving simulation was built. 40 drivers were recruited to carry out the two-vehicle experiments under 8 lane-changing scenarios and to complete the driving style questionnaire. Based on the experiment data in the lane-changing process, the driving behavior characteristics between single-vehicle and two-vehicle experiments were analyzed and compared. The effects of various factors on the lane changing interaction decision were explored by using the multivariate Logistic regression model. The results show that there are significant differences in the behavior characteristics of two vehicles between the single-vehicle and two-vehicle experiments, which verifies the necessity of performing two-vehicle simulated driving experiments. Under different road speed limits, lane changing directions, driving styles and other factors, the key behavior characteristics of two drivers are different. The road speed limits, initial vehicle speeds, longitudinal position difference between two vehicles, lateral/longitudinal speed difference and the product of two vehicles' longitudinal speeds have significant effects on the lane-changing interaction decision of the two drivers.
