- Abstract
A critique is presented of the reality television series "Extreme Couponing" and "Gold Rush Alaska" in terms of the depiction of gender roles and the 2008 U.S. economic recession. Middle class white families in the media, domestic stereotypes for women, and entrepreneurship in media are discussed, as well as masculine stereotypes in working class depictions.
