- Title
Pest management for Bt cotton: Need for conservation biological control.
- Authors
Biradar, V. K.; Vennila, S.
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the potential threat in the emergence of sucking pests to Bacillus thruringiensis (Bt) cotton in India. They emphasize that cotton hybrids expressing various endotoxins of Bt have given a new dimension and impetus to the integrated pest management (IPM) philosophy that aims to reduce the massive reliance on insecticides for pest management on the conventional or non-Bt cotton. They note that farmers are known to apply insecticides even if it can reduce the yields.
