- Abstract
The article examines the effects of cognitive training on cognitive function in people with Parkinson's dementia or Parkinson's-related mild cognitive impairment. The analysis of seven studies with a total of 225 participants found no clear evidence for improvement in global cognition through cognitive training. However, there are indications that cognitive training could improve attention and verbal memory. No significant differences were found in terms of executive function, visual processing, daily activities, or quality of life. The authors overall rate the evidence as of low reliability. The German S3 guideline for idiopathic Parkinson's syndrome recommends access to neuropsychological therapy for IPS patients based on individual indications.
