- Abstract
The article presents the statement from the European association of endoscopic surgeons on the use of robotics in general surgery. The statement includes robotic surgery having a potential in sophisticated electromechanical systems to perform complex surgical tasks. Conclusions drawn include little or no advantage of robotic systems in general surgery, severe lack of high quality data on robotic surgery and the need of a specific set of skills and training for surgeons.
