- Abstract
The article presents a study that compares the performance of classical autoregressive models (AR) and the asymmetric innovations of modified maximum likelihood (MMM) procedure in forecasting streamflow data. According to the author, employing classical AR for hydrological data cannot be used in normality assumptions while MML procedure, a new procedure in estimating autoregressive model, can be used in non-normally distributed residual series. In the study, the authors apply the models in the annual streamflow data from Kizilirmak Basin, Turkey. As a conclusion, the study shows that AR model with asymmetric innovations is reliable for stochastic hydrology.
