- Abstract
The polyurethanes (PU's) occupy the sixth position in the world market of polymers, due to their versatility they are applied in different segments such as: paints and varnishes, adhesives, fibers, sealants, waterproofing and flexible foams, representing 95%. Researchs aiming to analyze the behavior of amines as catalysts are not found in the literature. The present work aimed to study the differences in physical and chemical behavior of PU polyurethane foams of densities D18 and D33 using four different types of tertiary amines as catalysts: TEDA, BDE, DMCHA and TEDA in carboxylic acid. Reactivity time, apparent density, indentation strength and resilience were verified in order to study the behavior of these foams. The results obtained using TEDA were within what is expected for a foam, whereas using BDE and DMCHA were not within the standards.
