- Title
Weal/th in the Land: Re-Imagining Indigenous Land-Use in Australia.
- Authors
RODOREDA, GEOFF
- Abstract
The article explores efforts by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous writers to rewrite histories of Indigenous land use in Australia in both fiction and non-fiction. It examines the change from viewing the Aboriginal Australians as proprietors of the soil in the early decades of colonization to non-owners of land starting in the 1830s. Several literary works that describe the extent of Aboriginal labour invested in the land are cited, including "Australia and the Origins of Agriculture" by Rupert Gerritsen.
