- Abstract
The author discusses the importance of diversity to optimal care and addresses present and future research priorities. Topics discussed include the options to enhance the geriatric nurse scientist workforce and comments framed by the demographic trends and recommendation for the inclusion of gerontological competencies in nursing education such as the integration of cultural models in an educational approach and the need to mentor geriatric nurse scientists during their educational training.
