- Title
False alarm.
- Authors
Rawlings, Sarah
- Abstract
The article discusses ways to interpret research findings to ease anxiety about breast cancer. The author explains that sensationalism interferes with facts when the media communicates scientific findings to the public. She explains the importance of peer review, the number of participants in the study, and a comment from an independent, reliable organisation. She suggests that nurses explain to patients the difference between relative and absolute risk.
