- Title
Carbon Storage: A permafrost carbon bomb?
- Authors
Treat, Claire C.; Frolking, Steve
- Abstract
The article discusses a study of carbon storage conducted by B. Elberling and colleagues. It relates the results of the study which indicate that permafrost soil organic C is vulnerable to decomposition, however wet conditions after a thaw can substantially reduce the C loss rate. The research concludes that the fate of permafrost carbon is closely tied to temperature and hydrology.
