- Abstract
The article reports on the study conducted to determine the physiology of the leaf through assessment of the plant and climate information. The research involves the use of 2021 species of leaves around the world and each of the leaves was examined for their qualitative plant functional type (PFT), including its phylogeny, growth form and leaf phenology. Moreover, the PFT explains the five functional traits of the leaves such as the specific leaf area, leaf life span, mass-based net photosynthetic capacity, nitrogen content and phosphorous content. It was found out that the PFT information provides a significant data on the total variation in the functional traits of the leaves.
