- Abstract
The article discusses economic evaluation in acupuncture in the U.S. It stresses a significant role played by acupuncture in the health care system of the country. It cites factors that influenced the decision of a patient to seek complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments, acupuncture in particular, one of which is dissatisfaction with or ineffectiveness of conventional therapy. Also tackled are three types of full economic evaluations used in medical economics, including cost-effectiveness analyses (CEA).
