- Abstract
The author highlights examples of the latest research led by nurse scientists using health information technology (HIT) to improve patient safety, quality and efficiency of patient care. Topics discussed include opportunities for gerontological nurse scientists interested in merging care of older adults and HIT, how the effective use of electronic health records (EHRs) can improve outcomes and the challenges faced by EHR research such as the inability to conduct randomized clinical trials.
