- Abstract
This article aims to present the modified 30-15IFT test and its applicability in establishing special fitness in basketball to the professional basketball community. The technology we used enabled us to acquire additional data about the test and the fitness of the study subjects, i.e. the members of the Slovenian female national basketball team. The results showed that the subjects achieved a maximum velocity of 16.2 km/h after about 13 minutes on average, with a heart rate at 186.4 beats/min and lactate concentration at 6.1 mmol/l. The field 30-15IFT intermittent fitness test proved to be suitable for assessing the current functional abilities of male and female basketball players, and for identifying the differences in their fitness during both the preparation and the competition periods of the season. Considering the specific duration of individual intervals, a shortcoming of the test was observed with regard to its use for scientific and research purposes: the duration of the effort at individual test level is too short to enable the breathing indicators to develop to an appropriate level in relation to the running velocity during the test.
