- Abstract
The author reflects on the benefits of a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) which organizations perform as part of risk management and failure, designed to support a product design milestone prerequisite in a new product development process. The method describes potential failure modes, assigns causes to each mode and identifies the expected effects of the failure. The significance of proper planning to deal with potential failure to ascertain the dependability of work processes is cited.
