- Abstract
In recent years, debates on the various educational policies related to early childhood have been consolidated within the social agendas in Latin America and the Caribbean, due to the consolidation of the idea that it is a level that contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of boys and girls. In this study, the aim is to know the type of training received by teachers attending this level, through a comparative analysis that responds to the characteristics of a descriptive exploratory study, in which 111 curricula belonging to different training programs that offer the degree within higher education institutions belonging to lac are analyzed, These were selected according to their contextual characteristics, chosen in a stratified manner and taking into account socioeconomic, demographic and tenure characteristics, in order to establish a representativeness of each country, always based on the availability of information via the Internet. The curricula are categorized according to common elements, analyzing the differences between countries and groups of countries according to the objective social value of education. Among the most important findings is that the higher education institutions that train ecec teacher education students show notable differences for all the categories analyzed, except for the proportion of elective offerings. It is necessary to go deeper into the differences and their origins, since there are no differences in terms of objective indicators of the Social Value of Education, differences that are observed more in the public offer.
