- Abstract
Global financial meltdown has left its adverse impact on business performances of companies' world over. In order to mitigate the impact of GFM the Indian automobile companies have came out with various innovative measures. These innovative management practices adopted by auto makers in India have helped them not only in bringing down adverse impact on sales and bottom-line but also in rightsizing organization structures. In fact Indian automobile companies have converted threats into opportunities for good effect. Some of the innovative practices automobile companies have resorted to are flexible production schedule, launching fuel efficient vehicles, focusing on rural market, value engineering strategy, European version of the small car, etc.
