- Abstract
The author discusses the guidance released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asking big pharmaceutical companies to restrict the use of antibiotics on livestock to address antibiotic resistance in the country. Topics include the statement of doctor Michael Hansen, the need for companies to change the labels of antibiotics under the guidance, and the findings of the "Consumer Reports" which show the presence of pathogens, commensals, and antibiotic resistant bacteria on U.S. meat.
