- Abstract
To observe the effects of flavonoids from Potentilla Discolor Bunge (FPDB) on pancreatic islet beta cells oxidative stress and apoptosis in type 2 diabetes mellitusmellitus rat, Male Sprague-Dawley rats were selected to build a model of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rats. After successive administration for 4 weeks, FBG and FINS in T2DM rats treated with FPDB were decreased significantly. SOD and GSH-Px level of high-dose group and metformin group were increased. MDA level was decreased. The cells apoptosis index was decreased. While the expressions of Bcl-2 were increased, Bax was decreased in the high-dose group. The effect of FPDB in treating T2DM was probably adjusted the dyperfunction of glucose, its mechanism was probably related to increasing antioxidant capacity of T2DM rats, reducing the pancreatic islet beta cells damage caused by oxidative stress, inhibiting pancreatic islet beta cells apoptosis.
