- Abstract
The article presents a study of obesity and its implications on health and environment. Findings showed that populations with 40% obese need 19% more food energy for its total energy expenditure. Increase in adiposity in a population of 1 billion also increase greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from food production and car travel. Maintenance of normal body mass index (BMI) levels are recommended to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
