- Abstract
The article discusses a research on the cultural significance of the springs in the South-Eastern Great Artesian Basin (GAB), Australia. Particular focus is given to the processes the brought about the demise of the springs. It explores the critical role of the springs in supporting human occupation of the semi-arid zone as well as illustrates its role in the facilitation of understanding of the GAB and groundwater springs. An overview of the GAB is given.
