- Abstract
The article presents a study on HFE-related hemochromatosis (HH) which is an autosomal recessive, multisystemic disease caused by regulated uptake and accumulation of iron. Topics discussed include causes of HH due to mutations in HFE gene C282Y, use of TaqMan (single nucleotide polymorphism) SNP for carrying genotyping on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system, and aim of the study to provide frequency of HH risk mutation for Ukraine and Belarus population.
