- Abstract
Vocal cysts usually exist in the superficial lamina propria and often involve a vocal ligament.[1] They are classified into two types according to histological findings: epidermoid cysts and mucous retention cysts. In all cases, the cysts were completely removed via microflap surgery with cotton ball self-retraction without any damage to the epithelium or rupture of the cyst. As a result, it is easier to cut the anterior and posterior fibrotic bands anchoring the cyst without rupturing the cyst or damaging the vocal epithelium.[13] CONCLUSION The cotton ball self-retraction technique can be used as a supportive surgical method in microflap surgery.
