- Abstract
The use of scientific evidence in the formulation and implementation of public health policies is a complex process that requires continuous efforts to ensure that this evidence not only informs but also transforms health practices and policies with the aim of improving citizens' lives and the efficiency of public systems. The search for reliable evidence allows managers to make informed decisions, preventing inequalities caused by poorly formulated policies. However, the effective integration of this evidence faces challenges, especially when communication between researchers and policymakers is limited. To overcome these barriers, it is essential to foster close collaboration among the involved parties, adapt knowledge translation strategies to the local context, and invest in appropriate training. Only through coordinated and ongoing efforts will it be possible to translate scientific knowledge into practices that genuinely enhance public health and reduce inequalities in access to services. This work explores the importance of using scientific evidence in the formulation and implementation of public health policies to ensure universal, comprehensive, and equitable health services, as well as the significance of identifying barriers and developing strategies to overcome them. The methodology used involved a narrative review based on bibliographies available on Google Scholar, with a search conducted in several stages, including the snowball technique, analysis of publication dates, and relevance of the content to the study topic.
