- Abstract
The research literature has shown the impact of teacher behaviour on motivation and academic satisfaction, both variables associated with student learning. The present study aims to predict students' academic satisfaction according to their perceptions of the credibility of university lecturers, considering the mediating role of academic motivation. To this end, a sample of 369 students enrolled in university courses in early childhood and primary education was used. The Credibility Scale in University Professors, the State Motivation Scale and the Academic Satisfaction Scale were used for data collection. The statistical technique used was a structural equation model with partial least squares (PLSSEM). The results show that academic motivation mediates the relationship between teacher credibility and student academic satisfaction. Based on the results, the findings are discussed, and practical recommendations are proposed for teachers to be perceived as more credible in their educational practice.
