- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of specific ultrasound evaluation in diagnosing endometriosis in adolescents with severe dysmenorrhea (painful periods). The study included 267 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 20 with a visual analog scale (VAS) score of 7 or higher for dysmenorrhea. The ultrasound examination identified endometriosis features in 39.3% of the patients, with ovarian endometrioma being the most common finding. Adenomyosis and deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) were also detected. The study emphasizes the need for early diagnosis through accurate ultrasound scans to minimize the delay in treatment.
