- Abstract
This article discusses a study conducted in the Netherlands to identify risk factors for a short mid-pregnancy cervical length (CL) in singleton pregnancies. The study included over 19,000 low-risk, asymptomatic women and found that nulliparity (having no previous pregnancies) and a history of cervical excisional procedures were associated with increased odds of a short CL. The authors recommend the implementation of universal CL screening during pregnancies, particularly for women with known risk factors, to facilitate appropriate interventions and personalized care for those at higher risk for spontaneous preterm birth.
