- Abstract
The article discusses the types of engine oil tests, including field tests which refer to the truest measure of an oil's performance, bench tests which generally make use of consistent hardware, and dynamometer tests which generally conducted on production engines. It explains the selection of an engine model, configuration of the test stand, and the test fuel and test oils. The difference between a test developer and a test sponsor is also discussed.
