- Title
RESEARCH NEEDED IN SECONDARY SCHOOL SCIENCE.
- Authors
Blackwood, Paul E.
- Abstract
The article discusses some research problems related to science education at the secondary level. Due to limitations of the existing curriculum, there is a need of planning research for imparting the high school science education. Proposed research should be oriented to following fronts: selection of experiences in which students can profitably engage; organization of experiences; and finally, its evaluation. Such a research will help in identifying problems that are potentially significant for study in science classes. Besides, it will help in formulating the criteria that can be developed and applied to problems to judge their appropriateness for study in particular science classes. Also, it will help in identifying the best methods of making teaching materials, supplies, and general resources available when the problem approach is followed in science classes. Another front on which research and special study is needed relates to cultural conflicts and tensions that exist largely as a result of the impact of science and technology on the lives of people.
