- Title
Assessing Critical Thinking: The Use of Literature in a Policy Course.
- Authors
Miller, Shari E.; Hall, Diane M. Harnek; Tice, Carolyn J.
- Abstract
In this article the authors describe their attempts to determine how and if critical thinking changed in a group of U.S. undergraduate students enrolled in a social policy course that used literary works in its curriculum. It is reported that the researchers detected a change in the critical thinking ability of students on the completion of the course. The article discusses the meaning that this finding might have on the teaching of social work and for the definition and significance of critical thought in general.
