- Abstract
This article focuses on relationship of interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein to the prothrombotic state in chronic atrial fibrillation (AF). The study shows that existence of a procoagulant state in patients with AF, as measured by increased levels of tissue factor and von Willebrand factor. The group measured plasma indexes of inflammation and interleukin-6 [IL-6]) and the prothrombotic state, including markers of platelet activation, endothelial damage/dysfunction, the coagulation cascade and indexes of blood rheology in 106 patients with chronic AF and 41 healthy control subjects included in a cross-sectional analysis
