- Abstract
The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of management and establishment of two plant species on the structure of a saline soil. The soil structure condition of two areas with established plantations of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was described using the Cultural Profile methodology. Soil management of the crops included the application of organo-mineral fertilizers and irrigation. The results show that under the conditions of the artichoke crop, the root system was vigorous and intertwined with the soil, which creates a very favorable condition for the entry and conservation of water to the soil. The progressive cover of alfalfa allowed the establishment of a macrofauna and symbiotically associated microorganisms (Rhizobium meliloti), forming nodules on the roots, which produced a favorable development of the alfalfa and an evident regeneration of the structure.
