- Abstract
Kink band formation is unexpected in cubic nanocrystalline metals but is found to occur during layer‐parallel compression of bulk Cu–Nb nanolaminates produced by the accumulative roll bonding process. This deformation mechanism is strongly length scale dependent and allows for large compressive strains (>25%) at high stresses high stresses (>1 GPa) without leading to crack formation.
