- Abstract
On 2 and 3 of August 2020, the Brazilian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (SBNPed) has gathered in an unprecedented effort to reach a consensus report about pediatric craniovertebral junction (CVJ) diseases, specifically on Chiari I deformity (CID). Similar to recent publications [[2]], since the term malformation may be due to acquired conditions and caused by several pathophysiologic mechanisms, we have chosen to name it Chiari I deformity (CID) instead. Sagittal MRI often overestimates the degree of cerebellar tonsillar ectopia: a potential for misdiagnosis of the Chiari I malformation.
