- Abstract
Adolescence requires special attention, because it is at this stage that the main physiological changes, personality formation, adaptations in the social and environmental environment, and the entrance to adult life take place. The objective of this study was to identify, in the current literature, the challenges faced by the professional nurse in the prenatal care of pregnant adolescents. This is an integrative review of the literature of an exploratory and descriptive nature, with research carried out in the databases of LILACS, SciELO and BVS, in which complete works, in Portuguese and free of charge, published between the years 2014 to 2014 were included. 2020. Those with duplicity and those who did not address the topic of interest were excluded from the survey. The study consisted of the analysis of 11 publications. The findings of the study show that the adolescents, because they are not prepared for motherhood, have difficulties in accepting the pregnancy and that, in the absence of family support, they are more likely to start late prenatal care. It is concluded that the nurse's role is essential in prenatal care, as he is the professional who better establishes the bond with pregnant women, presents a broad vision when seeing adolescents in the pregnancy period in a psychosocial way, in addition to presenting a role relevant in care practices.
