- Title
Kurds in Iraq: The Struggle Between Baghdad and Erbil.
- Authors
Stansfield, Gareth; Anderson, Liam
- Abstract
The article discusses relationships between Kurds and Arabs in Iraq, examining the authors' assertions that the relationship between the two groups has deteriorated from mid-2007 through early 2009. The divide that exists between the two groups is a core challenge facing Iraq and the international community, the authors suggest. The authors also propose that the successful management of the division will lead not only to the survival of Iraq, but the potential evolution of a sustainable democracy in Iraq. The relationship between Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is also examined.
