- Title
A Regimen of Tricyclic Compounds and Carbamazepine for Treating Trigeminal Neuralgia Pain.
- Authors
Schaefer, Merlin C.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the effectiveness of tricylic compounds and carbamazepine regimen in treating 9 patients with trigeminal neuralgia pain. It notes that only one patient reported a lessening of pain in two-to-six weeks and noted that the pain was controllable within three-to-six months. It furthers that the combination of amitriptyline hydrochloride and chlordiazepoxide and carbamezapine offers a promising effect in treating patients with trigeminal neuralgia pain. It also asserts that the elevation of pain threshold affected by carbamazapine has resulted to the reduction of pain levels.
